Brief History of HANDD
You may not have heard of HANDD but it’s likely that we’ve already been keeping your data safe somewhere in the world. We are currently suppliers to 8 of the 10 largest banks in the world, 2 of the world’s top 5 investment organisations, and 45% of the FTSE 100.
We are independent specialists in data protection. In a world where data travels between people, organisations, countries and continents all of the time, we protect it at every step of our Protect, Detect, Respond cycle, advising, installing and maintaining software and systems that protect data throughout its life, wherever it travels.
If you’ve heard of HANDD, you’ll know that each HANDD employee is a specialist in data protection software. We don’t have sales people that lure you in whilst we keep our specialist knowledge for only occasional use – each person you see or speak to at HANDD is an expert in data protection and the software that operates within the industry.

So where did it all start?
In 2006 HANDD was born out of a vision. A desire to bring something new to the market. To be the first organisation to bring together security, risk and compliance, and break down the silos so often seen within the IT industry.
Our founders, Ian Davin and Anthony Hodges, decided that through offering world-class, proven technology and focusing on those that use data, HANDD would become a world player in data protection.
A truly global company
By 2011 we were winning substantial contracts within Financial Services organisations. To better serve our financial services customers we opened an office in Bishopsgate, the centre of London’s Financial District.
Just one year later our overseas success led us to open an office in Singapore. This enabled us to support our growing client base in the Far East and provide them with the care and attention that we believe all HANDD customers should be able to depend upon, wherever they are in the world.

We are independent and offer an open, honest and frank service providing completely unbiased advice to our customers. We don’t create our own solutions. We prefer to offer our customers a range of the most reliable and effective solutions from which, together, we can cherry-pick the best solution for each situation.
Our independence means our customers come to us as trusted advisors, whether they want us to review and shortlist solutions, implement new software or just advise on extending their existing protection. When it comes to helping our customers grow we are always on hand to provide support for bids and proposals, identifying and resolving potential threats to success when landing new clients and nurturing existing ones.

We also nurture relationships with our suppliers rather than just selling-on products. We find this benefits our clients in more ways than one. When we spot a gap in the market, or a challenge our customers face, we liaise with our suppliers to help them to continue developing new solutions to keep your data safe.
Shaping the data protection market
From migrations to complex data flows, our skilled team of experts have integrated, written code and generated the most complex workflows imaginable. In the process of migrating 1000’s of scripts we sometimes create applications for customers that other companies would find useful.
Rather than reinventing the wheel for each customer, we pool our knowledge and make these solutions available to our customers as a free trial once they have been thoroughly quality assessed. In sharing our progress this way, we are able to keep offering the best solutions and keep costs down for our customers.
