The Attachmate stand was well attended by 3 staff, supported by HANDD's Leo Mullett, Sales Executive and partially by HANDD Marketing Manager Helen Adams.

Other vendors Ipswitch and GlobalSCAPE also had large exhibition stands and were extremely busy.

Back in the office, HANDD Director and CEO Ian Davin who also had enormous success with the DataClassification site at InfoSec, sometimes 5 deep at their stand, is delighted with the company's overall success at the event, estimating that it's the best we've been to, meeting and talking with some extremely influential people in significant organisations from Europe and beyond. Ian sees this as a benchmark and is already thinking about next year - a 'must do' event.

Not many organisations have a structured and automated approach to managing their SSH user keys.  The new SSH User Key Manager, supplied by HANDD  is designed to reduce the risk associated with this scenario.

The security risks around public key authentication increase an organisation’s operational cost and risk exposure. Additionally, compliance initiative such as PCI-DSS, SOX and HIPAA all address the requirements for secure key management.  The combination of these drivers in many cases indicate several millions of pounds annually in operational cost, risk exposure and compliance fines related lack of sufficient SSH user key management.

The SSH User Key Manager addresses risks posed by the following:

  • Administrators who have left but still have access to critical SSH Services
  • Unused user keys still giving access to critical hosts
  • Unauthorised copies of private keys
  • Lack of key rotation
  • Lack of clarity of who has access to what
  • Lack of visibility of ‘trust relationships’ crossing organisation or functional boundaries
  • Inability to audit existing trust relationships
  • The number of individuals who can create permanent trust relationships
  • Human errors in manual key set up and removal process

HANDD’s new SSH Key Manager from SSH Communications security enables significant risk and cost reduction and management control.

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—March 29, 2012 —South River Technologies, Inc. (SRT), an innovator in managed file transfer and file collaboration software, announced today that it has added High Availability (HA) features to its Cornerstone MFT solution with the release of DMZedge Server version 4.0.
DMZedge Server provides perimeter security for SRT’s Cornerstone MFT and GroupDrive Server products. DMZedge Server reduces the risk of a network intrusion. The new release extends the security and failover capabilities of DMZedge to facilitate HA for the system.
In version 4.0, implementations can now have multiple DMZedge Servers that point to multiple Cornerstone MFT Servers, eliminating a single point of failure. This enables administrators to take either Cornerstone MFT or the DMZedge offline for maintenance without affecting system performance. In addition, multiple paths to access data provide greater throughput, while continuing to offer secure data transfer and perimeter security.
“As an increasing number of our customers are running 24 X 7 operations, it has become more important to eliminate a single point of failure, and provide for individual servers being taken offline without any impact to overall operations,” says Michael Ryan, CEO of South River Technologies.
DMZedge Server version 4.0 is available for immediate delivery.

Attachmate is holding a live Webinar on Attachmate Reflection 2011 – Installation, Migration, Standardisation and Virtualisation

Date and Time: April 3 2012, 15.00h CET

Introduction from Attachmate:

Administrators today are required to do much more with much less. Since most IT departments are managing hundreds or even thousands of applications across the enterprise, applications must be designed to be easy to install, configure and manage.

In this webinar we will take a look at how you can reduce the number of applications you need to manage by standardising on just one emulation package to which you can migrate all your existing session files and macros.

We will also look at how to package Reflection 2011 using Standard MSI techniques and how Reflection 2011 works with Virtualisation Technologies.

We hope that you can join us for this very informative and interesting webinar.

If you want to know how to register for the webinar or know more about about Reflection or to find out about any managed or secure file transfer solutions then contact us on 0845 643 4063 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Secure and managed file transfer have seen massive growth over the last few years due to the inherent weaknesses of FTP. Managed file transfer offers complete control and visibility of data as it flows around organisations and between them and their stake-holders. Operational efficacy, data protection and governance mean that data security is more important than ever to divert file leakage disaster.
Barry Davis Regional Sales Director for the UK said ‘We are very excited with signing HANDD in the UK. With Attachmate’s expertise in delivering robust products and HANDD’s extensive knowledge of the MFT market we feel that this partnership will help extend these offerings out to the UK reseller market’
In a recent survey carried out by Attachmate it revealed that numerous companies still use FTP or other legacy data transfer systems, even though 53 per cent of those surveyed realize that these methods do not meet current security standards. Thus, it comes as no surprise that data security is viewed as their greatest challenge.
